Form 5695 is used by taxpayers to claim the residential energy credit on their tax return. This credit is available for energy-efficient improvements made to a taxpayer's home, as well as for the purchase of renewable energy equipment such as solar panels or geothermal heat pumps. Taxpayers must provide information about the improvements or equipment and the costs incurred.
