Form 2290 is used to calculate and pay the tax due on highway motor vehicles with a taxable gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more. It is also used to report the suspension of tax on any vehicle that is expected to be used 5,000 miles or less during the tax period. The tax period runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year.

Individuals, businesses, and organizations that own or operate a heavy highway motor vehicle with a taxable gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more.

The completed Form 2290 and payment should be submitted to the address provided in the form instructions.
