IRS Form 1099-MISC (Rev. April 2025) is a miscellaneous income information return used by payers to report certain payments made during a calendar year. It collects payer and recipient names, addresses, phone number, taxpayer identification numbers (TINs), an optional account number, and dollar amounts for categories such as rents, royalties, other income, federal income tax withheld, medical and health care payments, crop insurance proceeds, gross proceeds paid to an attorney, and deferred compensation/Section 409A amounts. The packet includes Copy A (IRS), Copy 1 (state), Copy B (recipient), and Copy 2 (state return). Copy A printed from the online PDF is not scannable and should not be filed.
Payers (businesses/organizations) that made reportable miscellaneous payments to a recipient during the calendar year.
File with the IRS (preferably e-file). If filing on paper, use the official scannable Copy A ordered from the IRS; provide Copy B to the recipient and Copy 1/2 as required for state filing.
