Virginia Employee or Independent Contractor Checklist

The Virginia Employee or Independent Contractor Checklist is used by departments at Virginia Tech to classify individuals as either an independent contractor or an employee. It must be completed by the department requesting payment. If the individual is deemed to be an independent contractor, payment should be processed through Accounts Payable. If the individual is classified as an employee, the appropriate payroll processes should be followed.
