Note: Preview crops the visible area of the page but does not permanently delete hidden content. If you need to permanently remove cropped content for security reasons, consider using a dedicated PDF editor.

If you want more precise control or are working across devices, Lumin’s browser-based editor provides additional flexibility.

Common questions about cropping PDFs

Can I crop a PDF for free?

Yes. You can use built-in tools like Preview on Mac or free online editors like Lumin to trim your pages without a subscription.

How do I crop a PDF without losing quality?

Cropping simply changes the visible boundaries of the page. It does not compress the images or text within the file. Using a high quality editor like Lumin  ensures your resolution remains sharp.

Is there a way to crop all pages in a PDF at once?

Most advanced editors like Lumin allow you to select “All pages,” “Specific pages,” or the “Current page.” This is essential when you need to remove uniform white space from a 50-page report.

Can I undo a crop?

If you are using an editor like Lumin, you can revert changes. However, once you "flatten" or permanently save a file in some programs, the cropped data is discarded to save space.
